 Loreto, Baja California Sur, México is well known for its incredible beauty, excellent sportfishing, eco-tourism and rich history. Loreto is located three quarters of the way down the Baja peninsula. It is 700 miles from Tijuana via Mexico Highway One. The total drive from Los Angeles is 821 miles, or two days travel with an overnight rest stop. Loreto Playa Boutique Hotel is located on the north side of Loreto, right on the beach. Dining and shopping are only a few blocks away in the center of town. The beach in front of Loreto Playa includes a small esturary which attracts several species of sea birds; brown pelicans, blue heron, great egret, and oystercatcher to name a few. The beach is cobbly to sandy right in front of the hotel. The swimming and beachcombing are excellent. The beach is wide and unobstructed by plants and debris. This offers an excellent opportunity for our guests that are anglers wishing to fish the beach with a surfcaster or flyrod. The water immediately in front of the hotel is home to passing roosterfish and jack crevalle in the winter and summer, sierra mackerel and pargo in the fall through spring, and dorado in summer.
